LAMS Beta Partner Program
On July 20th, 2004, LAMS announced the first open invitation to educational organizations to join the LAMS Beta Partner Program.
This Program is designed to allow educational organizations to contribute funding towards the ongoing development of the LAMS software, and to gain immediate access to the software for implementation and evaluation, together with relevant technical support services to the value of their contribution. Each contributor to the Beta Partner Program is publicly recognised by LAMS in recognition of their support.
To join the LAMS Beta Partner Program, educational organizations contribute a minimum USD$15,000 towards the ongoing development of LAMS. In exchange, they receive access to the current version of LAMS (beta 5), together with subsequent beta releases, the full V1.0 release scheduled for November 2004, and subsequent LAMS updates/upgrades. They also receive technical support services to the value of their contribution – these services can include:
- Software training
- Technical support services
- Yearly service for software updates/upgrades (minimum one year required)
- Software Development
- Hosting services
- Other services as agreed
Membership of the LAMS Beta Partner Program is for up to three years, based on a single up-front, non-refundable contribution. Members can specify their required services in advance, or alternatively “draw down” on their contribution for services as they are required. The timing of provision of services is subject to the availability of relevant LAMS International staff. LAMS International (on behalf of the LAMS Foundation) retains intellectual property rights in any software development conducted by LAMS International as part of the Beta Partner Program.
A separate trial program is available for commercial organizations – please contact LAMS International for further details.
The invitation to join the LAMS Beta Partner Program is open from July 20th until October 31st, 2004. After this, different support services will be announced to accompany the Version 1.0 release of LAMS in November 2004, and the subsequent release of LAMS as open source software to coincide with the V1.1 release in February 2005.
